Feeding frenzy
Despite the stereotype, lawyers aren't all sharks, feeding on people.
Some actually do feed people.
The Lawyers Feed The Hungry Program dishes out more than 1,350 meals a
week at the Osgood Hall basement cafeteria and their operating funds
come out of the pockets of lawyers, law firms, clients and friends.
And because of the escalating number of homeless in the city, the
program could always use more cash flow.
Ergo, The Feed The Hungry In Toronto fundraiser, to be held on Nov. 16
at the Carlu Theatre. There is a major talent line-up including Sarah
Polley, Gordon Pinsent, Brent Carver, Paul Gross, Michael Burgess,
Louise Pitre, Martha Burns, Susan Coyne, Karen Kain, Nancy Palk, Eric
Peterson, Fiona Reid, Albert Schultz, Sonja Smits and Kate Trotter.
The $150 ticket price includes a concert and dessert reception.

I sent a query to the Law Society of Upper Canada (that sponsored the event) and got this reply back:
Hi Alyssa,
Thank you for your interest in our Lawyers Feed the Hungry Fundraiser.
Unfortunately, Geordie Johnson in the end was not able to attend the event, although he was certainly one of the first to sign on. It was mainly singing (Brent Carver, Michael Burgess, Paul Gross and David Keeley, Louise Pitre) as well as piano accompanists (Diane Leah, Laura Burton, Doug Riley), violin playing by Jacques Israelivitch and dramatic readings done (Gordon Pinsent, Clare Coulter). Christopher Newton, Joe Ziegler, Martha Burns, Karen Kain and Kate Trotter were there to introduce people, with a special appearance by David Mirvish (who introduced Louise Pitre) and William Hutt wrapped it all up.
We are also pleased that event was so successful in raising much-needed funding for the Lawyers Feed the Hungry Program.
