Remember Katja from the episode "Cold Hearted" icon_question.gif
What if Ethan had died - from old age, naturally - and Katja was alone in America icon_question.gif

The phone rang in the Bunker, and Simon was the first to answer.

"Hello? .... I'm sorry, I don't understand. One moment." Simon put the caller on hold, and turned to Kerensky.

"I think she's speaking Russian - I can't understand it." Simon said to him. Kerensky answered the call.

"Da?"

His expression grew concerned. "Katja?" he asked. "What is wrong?"

What has happened to make Katja so concerned that she would call Kerensky for help icon_question.gif

Lol Alyssa, we will have to find some russian words for this fic. I tried the russian online translator and it shows out funny characters. If you know any other words aside from the "da" word, please send them to me.

Ok, now let's imagine they are talking in Russian...

-"Giorgi, remember the promise you made to my sister ?"

-"Da." he replied.

-"I'm in trouble and i need your help. My husband died last week and i have to take care of some of his financial matters. I don't understand the language and i don't know anybody apart from you."

Kerensky felt releived. He thought that she would be in worst trouble...

-"Also my cousin Irina, in Moscow needs a very expensive heart operation. It's urgent." she added. "She has 1 month to live and if we don't find her a new heart she will die."

So, will he help ? go to Russia with her ?... did her husband leave her a lot of money or a lot of trouble he hid from her ?

I hardly know any Russian - I think the word "spaseeba" means "thank-you" though. icon_smile.gif

"Would you like me to come see you?" Kerensky asked. "Or would you like me to send a car around and you can come to Group W?"

"Could you please come see me?" Katja asked. "I feel so nervous in America."

"Of course," Kerensky replied. "I will see you soon." He hung up, and turned to Simon.

"Let Largo know that I've gone to see Katja," he said. "Hopefully this won't take too long... but it is hard to say."

"Katja, huh?" Simon perked up. "Is there something you're not telling me Georgy?" he asked jokingly.

"Don't get any bad thoughts into your head," Kerensky replied. "She's the younger it of my old frend Masha, who was killed last year."

Simon just nodded, knowing that some of last year's events in St-Petersburg were still sensitive for Kerensky.

Half an hour later he got out of Group W's door and went to his car. He always had a spare change of clothes in a suitcase on the back seat. He quickly changed into another one of his many black shirts then prepared himself for a very long driving.

Ethan had baught a townhouse on the Upper East Side in New York with a nice landscaped garden, something worth around 4 Million $ after the wedding. When Kerensky arrived he was suprised to see a police car parked in the parking. He got out of his car and walked right to the front door. It was half closed and inside 2 policemen were standing, waiting for the Russian interpreter to finish explaining Katja her rights. She was standing there, crying.

She was the first one to see him and, to his great surprise, threw herself into his arms.

- "Katja, what is happening here ?" he said in russian.

- "Who are you ? " asked one of the policemen.

- "I'm a this lady's friend." he replied

They wanted to check Kerensky's ID and he complied. One of the policemen got out to check the information on Kerensky's card in his car computer. Meanwhile Kerensky asked Katja what was going on.

-"Georgy, you must help me. They want to bring me in for the death of my husband."

- "But you told me he died a week ago." said Kerensky

- "Yes, from cardiac arrest but 3 days ago his relatives wanted an autopsy and they found a poisonous substance in his body. But i swear Georgy it's not me. I really loved my Ethan."

"Katja, they may have to take you down to the station - but I know that with Largo's help, we can get you bail. Now tell me, what else did the family say?" Kerensky said. He laid a comforting hand on Katja's shoulder.

Katja tried to control her sobs. "They hate me, his family," she said. "They think that I came to America for Ethan just for his money. They were angry when Ethan's will said that he had left his money, and this townhouse,to me, and not to them."

"This is something we will look into," Kerensky promised. Katja continued to cry.

"Georgy, I am so scared," she whispered. She tried to wipe away her tears. Kerensky put an arm around her and she leaned into him gratefully.

"Everything will be okay Katja," he said. "I promised Masha I would look after you."

"Spaseeba," she replied.

Just then, one of the police officers came over to them. He handed Kerensky's card back. "You check out fine, but we have to take the lady downtown," he said.

"I am going to follow you if that's all right," Kerensky said. The officer nodded.

"Come with me please, ma'am," the officer said, taking Katja by the arm, gently. Kerensky kissed her cheeck.

"Don't worry," he said. "I'll be on the phone to Largo in a moment, and we'll get you out on bail as soon as we can." As Katja was led away, he got into his car, and dialled Largo's private number.

She was free the next day. They did not have any evidence against her. Ethan could have absorbed the poison anywhere in a beverage at any time. Thallium was a slow-acting poison and soluble in water. It had accumulated in his tissues and, over a short period of time, it became fatal for him. Its salts were colorless, odorless and tasteless.

Kerensky prepared himself to go and pick her up the next day, thinking on his way that he was now stuck with a problem. He knew that if she stayed too long around him there would be a possibility that the girl would get emotionally attached to him and at this moment in his life it was the last thing he needed. He also knew that she would need someone that knew the Russian language very well to keep her company. Now that she was a widow, and a rich one too, there would be lots of men around interested in her for the wrong reasons.

He had also promised Masha to watch over her but he did not want Katia to end up like the women in his life. He suddenly remembered about that woman writer who was with them back in Russia and Largo's passion for her. Maybe she would be interested to help them again. She knew the Russian language and she knew Katia. The problem was that Largo was already captivated with his latest conquest, the sexy Miranda Collins, heiress to the Collins Industries...

should be fun renuiting 2 of Largo's conquests... icon_twisted.gif

Kerensky picked Katja up at the police station. She looked shaken, and sad, but she mustered a smile for him bravely. He took her arm, and led her to his car.

"What do we do now?" Katja asked him.

"Largo wants to talk to you," Kerensky said. "He's worried that what happened to Ethan might be just the tip of the iceberg. He's wondering if our old friend Sergei might have something to do with this."

They drove the rest of the way in silence, while in the meantime...

Largo was locked in an embrace with Miranda, a beautiful blonde woman. She was everything a man could desire in a woman - tall, slim, blonde, with blue eyes, and incredibly business-savvy. She ran Collins Industries, a multi-national steel and resources firm, for her aging father. He had offically retired, but was still involved with the company.

Miranda broke the kiss, and pouted.

"But Largo, you promised me last week that we'd go out for lunch today," she said.

Largo untangled himself from her embrace, and went to his desk. "I know I did Miranda, but something important has come up."

"Another woman, you mean?" Miranda accused.

"No," Largo replied.

There was a knock on the door, and Kerensky entered, escorting Katja.

"Katja, you remember Largo," Kerensky said, presenting her to Largo. He graciously pulled out a chair for Katja. Largo came around his desk and pulled Katja into a gentle hug. Miranda's eyes widened in surprise, and she stalked out of his office. Kerensky smiled a small smile of amusement to himself, one that Largo didn't see.

Largo looked slightly annoyed at Miranda's abrupt departure, but sublimated it and focused on Katja.

"How are you doing?" he asked her. "I'm sorry I couldn't come down and get you from the station myself."

"I can't beleive he's gone." she said. "My Ethan. So kind, so generous. He didn't deserve that."

She was on the verge of crying when Simon came in, along with Joy. They both hugged her and gave her condolences.

Later, Simon said:

- "I know it may sound painful Katja, but you will have to tell us everything you remember if you want us to help you."

- "I don't know where to start." she said.

- "Did you notice anything strange or unusual about him." asked Joy.

- "No, not really." she said. Then added, " He complained he was loosing his hair a bit. Apart from some digestive problems, i don't see anything else."

- "Well, " said Kerensky. "Actually i did some research earlier this evening. Seems like Thallium is widely used in industry. But unfortunately like arsenic, thallium also accumulates slowly in tissues, and over a short period of time, has cumulative toxicity. It has been used in many criminal cases. I must tell you that the fatal dose of thallium is about 1 g."

- "One gram ? that's a lot." said Simon.

- "And anybody being in contact with him could have done it too." said Kerensky. " The insoluble salts take longer to act because the effects are rarely noticeable before 12 hours and may be delayed as long as 48 hours."

-"This gives the criminal enough time to cover its tracks." said Joy...

"You can stay in one of the guest apartments here," Largo offered to Katja. "I'm going to call C.J. and she can come stay with you."

"Thank you so much Largo," Katja said.

"Kerensky, could you show her the guest apartment,?" Largo requested. Kerensky nodded.

"We're going to get going on a full background check of Ethan," Joy said to Kerensky. She and Simon headed out the door and down to the Bunker.

Largo came around his desk, and held out his hand to Katja. She rose from her chair after taking his hand.

"Everything will be all right," Largo said, kissing her cheek. Kerensky took Katja's arm, and led her out, helping her to get settled in the guest apartment.

Now - what will Joy and Simon find?
And what will happen when C.J. and Miranda encounter each other? icon_twisted.gif

After everybody was gone, Largo sat down. He was in no rush to get back at his penthouse as he knew that a very jealous and exquisite lady was waiting for him. He had a phone call to make and it wouldn't be easy to talk to C.J. again. The last time she was with him, she had asked him if he was ready to bring their relationship to the next step, meaning serious business and he had made it clear that he was not ready for it...

Meanwhile back in California:

Sitting on her wooden bench and surrounded by fragrant flowers and herbs, C.J. was taking some notes on her portable computer for the next book she was hoping to have published. Her story had started well but it lacked something and she couldn' t figure out what it was. Suddenly, her cell phone rang. She really didn' t feel like answering it and let it rang for a minute until it started to get on her nerves. It was probably her neighbor again, complaining about her cat attacking her exotic fish in the pond on their property. Without checking for who was calling, she pressed on the button and brought the phone to her ears.

- "Yes, " she said, holding the phone with her shoulders while tapping the last sentence of her story on the keyboard.

- "C.J., finally." she heard a man say. Her heart skipped a beat at the sound of his voice.

- "Largo !" she said, excited but trying not to show it in her voice. "How are you ?"

- "I'm fine" Largo replied. "But Katja isn't. I think she could use a friend right now. Ethan died..."

Katja followed Kerensky in silence. She was still asking herself what her sister Masha had found interesting to this tall Russian man when she used to work for the KGB.

Georgie stopped in front of the apartment and started to open the doors with his magnetic card after he had composed the access code. Inside, the well decorated spacious living room welcomed them.

-"Here Madam." he said. "And here is the card to control the access. You won't need the code, i've just unprogrammed it."

- "So, do you like it." he asked her as they went in.

- "Yes, it's beautiful." said Katja, admiring the view through the big panoramic windows.

She then threw her purse and her suit-case containing her spare clothes on the sofa.

- "If you need something, just call me." he said, giving her a portable phone. "Here's my number."

He was about to go out when the sound of her voice in his back stopped him in his steps.

- "Georgie, please stay a little longer." she said, innocently. "At least, come and have supper with me tonight. I would apreciate your company." she added, looking at him with her big beautiful supplicating eyes.

- "Ok." he said. "But before, i'll have to do a couple phone calls.

-"Good." she added. " I'll go and refresh myself. Just make yourself at ease."

She walked towards the sofa, opened her suit-case and took out some spare clothes. He went in the kitchen and served himself a glass of vodka while she was entering the bathroom. He watched her close the door and then started to make his calls...

The first call he made was to Joy and Simon in the Bunker...

"Have you found anything yet?" he asked.

"I checked on some of our Russian friends from St-Petersburg," Joy said. "The search engine flagged one of Sergei's henchmen on a flight from New York yesterday."

"Anything else on him?" Kerensky asked.

"Still checking," Joy said. "But it looks like he's been in town awhile - he's not coming up on any recent incoming flights. You might want to ask Katja if she'd seen anyone familiar around..."

"Or maybe not," Kerensky said. "We don't know for sure if she is guiltless."

"Very true," Joy said. "I'll keep digging. Do you really think she could have done it?"

"Under enough pressure from that band of thugs... well... I woudn't put it past anyone, to be honest," Kerensky replied.

Watching her coming out of the bathroom with her long wet and curly hair was a pleasure to his eyes. She looked so divine and innocent. Her long white lacy gown added to her charm. One thing for sure, she knew how to put her beauty in value. She watched him gazing at her and was thinking of a way to make him feel more at ease. Talking about Ethan would not be easy and she knew it. She thought that maybe the idea of her being a suspect would go through his mind at one moment or another, so, might as well make sure that he didn't have any doubts.

They had a very simple meal and talked about everything except Ethan. Then, when it was time for coffee she decided it was time for some serious talk.

- "Georgy," she said. "May i ask you a personnal question ?"

- "That depends." he replied. "Go on."

- "You beleive in my innocence, do you ?"

- "Why you ask that ? " he asked.

- "Because i am the one who is going to profit out of Ethan's death. And i've overheard what you said on the phone while drying my hair with a towel..."

Not knowing what to tell her, Kerensky decided to stay silent. But Katja was determined to get to the bottom of it.

- "Don't tell me that you don't trust me, Georgy." she said, looking serious.

- "It's not that." he replied

She came closer beside him. Her delicate tangerine perfume was getting up his nose.

- "What is it then ? Georgy." she asked him.

- "Oh, just a funny feeling that you're hiding something." he said, with a slightly mocking smile."Tell me about your cousin Irina in Moscow. How long have you known about her situation ?"

She hesitated, then admitted:

- "I've heard of it two months ago."

Feeling cornered, she continued:

- "And i can see where you're trying to get at...I wanted to go back to Russia but Ethan refused, not wanting to tell me his reasons. I hated him for that...But it's not me who killed him..."

Kerensky sighed. "I hope the police don't find that out," he said. "Look, was there anyone who came to visit Ethan in the last few months? Anyone from Russia? Or just anyone suspicious?"

"I don't know," Katja said. "Ethan never told me about what went on at his office."

Kerensky frowned, and Katja felt that he was displeased with her.

"What is wrong, Georgy?" she asked.

"I'm just a bit distracted," he said.

"I remind you of Masha don't I?" Katja said. "I'm sorry."

"It's not that Katja," Kerensky replied. "Don't you worry."

Katja summoned up the courage to suggest something. "Maybe you could ask Ethan's secretary about his visitors?" she said.

- "I'll see what i can do." he replied. "Got to leave now." he added.

Katja got up and went in the living room to get his jacket.

- "Thanks for your help." she said, giving him his jacket and deliberately grazing his hands.

- "No problem." he replied, giving her one of his charming smiles and then stepping out of the door.

She stood in the doorway looking at him while the elevator's door was closing. He looked back at her, seeing a beautiful lady he could easily have taken advantage of but decided otherwise. It was not in his intentions to get involved with her. Beside, C.J. would be there in the morning and take care of her. Right now, all he was thinking of was to get a good night sleep and maybe tomorrow, hack Ethan's secretary's computer.

Meanwhile, back at Largo's penthouse, Largo had some fun with Miranda. He had came earlier on with a present to calm her down, ate a delicious meal, charmed her right up to the bedroom and enjoyed those healthy pleasures he usually shared with all the women who came in his life. Now it was time to tell her to leave. C.J. would be there in the morning and that would spell trouble...

Any idea on how he could get her to leave ? She really wants to spend the night with him...

Not having found any excuses, Largo fell asleep in the arms of Miranda later that night...

In the meantime, in California:

Under a sky full of stars, C.J. was coming out of her BMW, happy find her house after a long night celebrating her friend's birthday. She still had to pack her things before she would fall asleep. Far away she could hear her neighbor's dog yelping. As usual, she thought. At least tomorrow she wouldn't have to endure those barks that woke her up in the middle of the night. Her cat was surely keeping him busy again...

Early in the morning, the next day, she went to the Oakland International Airport and took the plane. 6 hours and 30 minutes later she was coming out of the J.F. Kennedy International Airport in New York and was taking a limo right down to Group W's building.

In the meantime, at the Bunker, Kerensky was doing some research. He was verifying the antecedents of all the visitors that had had a meeting with Ethan these last 5 months, meaning since the wedding of Ethan and Katja... The list was easily obtained by his usual doubtful ways...

It was late in the afternoon when Miranda woke up and saw that Largo was not on her side. He was probably in his office at that hour, she thought. The night before, having drunk a little too much champagne had left her with a light headache and a sensation of well-being. She was proud to be loved by a seductive man and probably one of the richest men on the planet.

She had tried to talk to him about marriage again but he had shut her up by kissing her all over, driving her nuts. Therefore she resigned to put off the subject until later because she really cared about it. Her aging father had often expressed his desire to see some grandchildren around to occupy his old days and she felt a little guilty, at her age, not to have given him a heir. She was an only child and felt responsible to assume his lineage. Nude, she got up and started to pick up her lacy underwear that Largo had thrown somewhere in the room. She then dressed herself up and, as she was starting to be very hungry, decided to search for Largo to maybe have lunch with him…

At the same moment, C.J., excited to see Largo again, entered his office. He was waiting for her and she was right on time. He came to welcome her by giving her a hug.

- “Largo !” she said, happy to see him and putting her arms around his neck. “I’m so happy to see you !”

- “Let me take a look at you... “ said Largo as an excuse, taking gently her arms off his neck and stepping back a couple of steps. “You look wonderful…” he added, trying to divert her attention before she became too enterprising.

-“And I chose this Dior outfit just for you. I know how much you love his creations…” she said.

At the same moment, the phone rung.

- “Excuse me.” said Largo, going back to his desk and picking up the phone.

-“Yes… yes Simon.” He said. “I’ll be right there…”

He then turned around to face C.J. and told her:

- “Put youself at ease, C.J., I’ll be back in 15 minutes…”

He got out of his office and went down to the Bunker. Simon and Kerensky were sitting in front of their computers. Joy was not there. She was out with Katja doing some shopping and watching for her safety.

- “Come and see this…” said Kerensky to Largo. “Do you recognize that man Largo ?”

- “His face looks familiar…” said Largo, trying to remember where he had seen that man before…

- "I’ve gone through the list of visitors that Ethan saw these last months and there’s a name of a guy who saw him a couple of times that i can’t find information on. » said Kerensky. “Simon just brought me one of the surveillance videos of Ethan’s office and see for yourself…” he added, enlarging the image onscreen of a man that look a little familiar to Largo…

After thinking a moment…

- “His face reminds me of one of the policeman that put us in jail back in Russia.” said Largo. “And you Georgy, what do you think ?… »

- “Exactly. It’s what I was afraid you were going to say.” Said Kerensky. « C.J. can take a look if you want.. »

- « Oh no ! » interrupted Largo. “Don’t you mix C.J. again in all this Georgy. I want her to stay in New-York this time and keep Katja company. You know how C.J. is…”

- “By the way Largo, “ started Simon. “How was your big reunion with C.J. ? I saw her briefly before I came down to the Bunker.”

Largo didn't answer. His thoughts were elsewhere.

- "You're sure you're all right ?" asked Simon, anxious.

- “No, Simon.” He replied. “I’m just a little lost. You know, women…”

- "Oh, " said Simon. " I always thought you were the successful one with the women..."

- "It's not that case, can you imagine ?..." said Largo.

- "Why ?" asked Simon. "Miranda is giving you trouble again ?"

- "No, it's not that... I'm stuck between two women now. One who is rich, beautiful and desirable and all she wants is to marry me. And the other one who’s waiting for the right moment to jump right up on me..."

- "I believe you're missing one from your list..." said Simon.

- "Oh ?, there is another one i forgot its existence ?" asked Largo.

- "Are you're blind or what ?" said Simon. "You didn't notice Joy's look on her face every time she sees Miranda gluing on you ?"

Surprised, Largo said:

- "Don't tell me that she is still has a thing for me Simon. I thought it was over a long time ago between me and her."

- "You're the one saying it." replied Simon. "If I were you, i would make sure..."

Largo made a face.

-“Ok, I have to go now.” He said. “ C.J. is waiting in my office.”

In the meantime, C.J. had taken off her jacket and was waiting patiently, sitting on Largo’s chair. Miranda opened the door and came in…

Coming out of Saks Fifth Avenue in New-York with their hands full of packages, Joy and Katja got in the limo that Largo had put to their disposition and that was waiting for them.

Katja was proud of her purchases. Largo had given her her own personal credit card so she could spend as much as she wished. Eventually, she would pay him back once she would have access again to her own bank account or Ethan's.

Joy had followed her everywhere at Saks and had seen her amazed in front of those luxury products. They had visited the second and third floor, buying clothes for all occasions.

- "Do you think it will please my cousin Irina ?" asked Katja, choosing an all size pullover.

Surprised, Joy replied with another question:

- "You have a cousin ? I thought that Georgy told me that Masha was your only family left in Russia."

- "Yes, i had Masha but then she died and Ethan got her mail tranferred after he had paid for her funeral. He found some letters from Irina begging my sister to help her. So, here i am with a cousin i don't know and that i would like to help. Anyways, Georgy promised to take care of it..."

Joy didn't say anything but promised herself to question Georgy on this mysterious cousin as soon as they would be back.

- "Take it." she told Katja. "She can always find it useful."

They then decided to take a break and took the elevator up to the 8th floor. The delicious smell of fresh coffee got to their nose. They then baught themselves some gourmet food and ate it along with something to quench their thirst.

- "I need to freshen up a bit." said Katja, passing in front of the washrooms. "You're going to wait for me here ?"

- "No," said Joy. "I'll go with you."

Katja

When they were done, they took the elevator down to the third floor to discover its marvels. Passing in front of the bridal room, Katja fell in tears in front of the veiled mannikins dressed with marvellous dresses in satin, organza and white silk. Joy took her in her arms to console her.

- "I'm so sorry." she said, drying up her tears. "It's just that it reminds me so much of Ethan. He was so nice with me and our wedding day was one of the most beautiful souvenirs that i have left from him."

Joy gave her a pocket-handkerchief.

- "Here." she said. Then, to cheer her up she said:

- "Feel like helping me find a present for Largo ? It's his birthday soon and i don't know what to get him."

- "Ok," Katja replied, drying up her tears again. "Let's go and take a look."

They took the elevator, visited the second floor, then the first floor and baught some clothing and accessories that might please Largo. Then they returned to the elevator. And so, they found themselves back on the main floor where Katja had completed her buyings.

Now they were sitting comfortably on the back seat of Largo's limo heading back to the Group W buiding...

As he got out of the Bunker, Largo took the elevator to go back in his office where C.J. was waiting for him when suddenly the elevator stopped on the main floor. He was surprised to see Joy and Katja, their hands full of colored packages come in the elevator with him.

- "Ho, you're finally back !" he said. "Did you have a good time ?"

- "Yes Largo. We shopped like crazy and spent all your cash." said Joy, trying to tease him. Largo's eyes were riveted on their packages and Katja looked a bit shy.

- "I can help you if you want." said Largo, not in a hurry to go back and deal with C.J.

- "No no...we'll be o.k." said Joy. "After all, a little exercise is good for our pectoral muscles..."

She really didn't want him to snoop and find out about his birthday gift.

When the elevator stopped at Largo's floor, he got out and left the girls behind with their packages.

At the same moment, Miranda opened the door of Largo's office and saw a tall woman with long brown hair, elegantly dressed and sitting on Largo's seat in a suggestive posture. Her vest was laying on the back of Largo's seat and her low-necked dress was close to the limits of indecency. A reaction of surprise mixed with anger braught Miranda to question her:

- "Who are you ? And what are you doing in my fiancé's chair ?" she asked C.J., trying to master her rage.

- "What ?" asked C.J. "Your fiancé ??? He has a fiancée now ? And since when ???"

Miranda didn't answer. C.J. continued to look at her, observing her rival from head to toes. She looked wonderful, probably the same age as her and dressed with taste. C.J. felt a sudden impression of betrayal from Largo's part because she was waiting too for him to decide when he would be ready to commit. So, that's why he was so distant lately, she thought.

Her frist reflex was to verify Miranda's hands. No, she couldn't see the proof of the eternal diamond ring that the fiancé usually offered to his dear one before they got married. She then concluded that Miranda was probably lying. As Miranda was waiting for her reaction, she said:

- "My name is C.J. Flynn and Largo invited me to keep company to a woman named Katja."

- "That doesn't give you the right to sit in his seat." said Miranda, on an irritating tone.

- "But darling, " said C.J., on a mocking tone. "Me and Largo, are very intimate... and i don't see why he would have any objections that i borrow his seat..."

At the same moment, as his office door was left a bit open, Largo got in. He had heard C.J.'s last phrase and had to act quickly before Miranda had a nervous attack. Miranda was standing with her back turned against the door and C.J. was the first one to notice Largo. She quickly got up and went towards him.

- "Darliiiiing !" she said to Largo, clasping in his arms and kissing him languidly. "You took so much time that i was dying with impatience..."

Miranda was observing them, boiling with anger but retaining herself. Largo had to act quickly.

- "You," he said to Miranda. "Wait for me here. I'll explain everything in 5 minutes. And you," he said to C.J., firmly, "You're coming with me outside."

He took C.J. by the hand and dragged her out of the room, closing the door behind their backs.

- "Follow me." he told C.J.

- "Where are we going ?" she asked

- "I'm bringing you back to the elevator. You did enough damage like that. Anyways Katja has just arrived..."

- "But Largo, she..."

- "No buts..." he said.

- "You're really going to marry that crazy woman ?" she asked.

- "It's none of your business." he replied, irritated.

The elevator door opened and he let C.J. go see Katja. He then returned to his office to calm down Miranda.

Arriving on Katja's floor, C.J. crossed Joy who was getting out of the appartment. They exchanged a couple of words then she went to see Katja.

Joy, still intrigued by Katja's mysterious cousin, was getting herself ready to go down at the Bunker...

Joy escorted Katja back up to her guest suite once they returned to Group W. Then she headed down to the Bunker to talk to Kerensky.

"Kerensky, did Masha ever talk about her cousin Irina to you?" she asked.

"Before Katja called, I never knew she had a cousin Irina," Kerensky replied.

"Katja said Masha's letters were forwarded to her after she died, and there were letters from a cousin she didn't know... this Irina, with a heart problem," Joy said.

"Well, Russians call many of their distant family members cousins," Kerensky noted. "I'll take a look and see if I can come up with any more information. If this cousin has heart problems, she's likely had to get treatment in hospital somewhere."

"You're going to hack into hospital records? Isn't that awfully personal?" Joy objected.

"It's not like I'm going to share anything, or post them on the internet," Kerensky said irritably. "I'm rather suspicious of this cousin - Masha would have said something to me about her, especially if she was sick. If Masha was wanting to get Katja out, don't you think she would have wanted to get Irina out too, for better hospital care?"
